High quality content is The Best Way to Build Links and Improve Your Search Engine Rankings, this means that content is still king. Days ago I wrote an article on when was content king, and it said that content was king if you had enough links to compete with the best ranked websites on a particular keyword. I don’t know why I wrote that, I think my ideas where kind of messed up that day, mainly because of my frustration of not ranking high for my main keyword, but that’s ok, this blog is very new, and it is already highly ranked for many related keywords. All my traffic comes from the search engines and from other blogs that are linking to me. I do not pay for traffic, I do not build links, I let links come to me naturally. Sure I may have created some backlinks for my site at forums, but that is just because I must show people my work so that they can trust every reply or advice I give out on forums. But that’s it, I don’t even submit enough articles to appropriately promote my site and get backlinks as well.

There is a reason for all of this, one reason is that I’m lazy and I have a day job, yes I am blogger that still works, I just love to make money, so the more I can bring in the better, be it from my job, be it from my many websites and blogs, and I do have very successful websites, but they are in totally different niches to the make money online niche. I decided to create a site about earning money online because I actually know how to do it.

If you want to build links in a way that actually works, if you want to build high quality backlinks for your site from other related sites and even unrelated sites that still value your information enough for them to link to your site, you must have the highest quality of content, you must have the best information, you must have breakthrough information. To achieve this goal you must be very creative and very smart, you have to see beyond the future, you must analyze trends, you must be informed about everything.

I know I fail in this niche mainly because I do not work as hard on getting links as others do, I do not do enough article submissions at ezines or other article directories, I do not comment on blogs, I don’t do anything, I focus on content and that’s it, I hope someone picks it up somewhere and hope that they like it enough to link back to me, and when others see that link and clickthrough hopefully they will like it as well and hopefully they will also link back to me.

My approach may take more time but it is the most effective way to build links, although article submissions are necessary in order to get your content effectively promoted, therefore more baclinks are created as well in a natural way, I don’t do it enough because I simply don’t have the time, In my spare time I prefer to write more useful content for the people that comes to my site.

If you don’t know who Eric Ward is then you haven’t probably been around online businesses enough, because he is the man when it comes to building links, he is known as the ¨Link Moses¨. If you don’t know who Matt Cutts is then you are probably missing another great source of information about how to boost your rankings in google and the other major search engines. I write about these two guys because Matt Cutts works for google and he says that the best way to build links is by creating great content that other people likes so much that they will link back, truly unique useful content, and he has commented that Eric Ward has the best approach about building links, and Matt Cutts does not say that about anyone.

SEO is primarily about link building, sure onpage SEO is good, but offpage SEO is better, and for great offpage SEO you must have great onpage SEO and that is done through Great and Unique Content.

It is true, Content is King! Great content will give your blog more exposure, it will help you get listed higher in the rankings provided by the search engines, but you won’t make it to page one of the search results for super competitive keywords even if you had Stephen Hawking writing that content for you.

This blog is a clear example of that theory, because it has a lot of great content in the “make money online” niche, but I still have not managed to take this blog to the first page results for the terms I target. I have had some good results, I do receive free traffic from the search engines, but not the amount of traffic I was hoping for when I got started with this site.

My goal with this blog is to get to Google’s first page for the keywords “make money online”, “make money”, “earn money online”, “earn money”, etc. Anything related to making money, since I have a lot of experience in this field, my goal was to become the king of SEO by getting to the first page of google for those keywords without applying a linking strategy, my goal was to make front page based only on content to see if Content really is King.

Well it is not, even if you have the greatest most unique content, you probably won’t make it to the first page of the search results, because you need backlinks for your site and for the keywords that you are targetting. If you don’t have any incoming links you won’t be near the top in a million years, the  domain for this site was purchased for almost a year now, but it was only 5 months ago when I got into posting articles into it, I was very busy with my other niche blogs that were actually making me a lot of money at the moment. One day I decided to start posting and that is how the whole thing got started, since I had a lot of experience making money online, and I had applied many successful techniques in the past I decided to pass on my knowledge, and see if I could get highly ranked for posting my true money making skills, techniques that really worked, most of these techniques were actually free, the most money I have made online has always been made through free resources and free tools, and it has been a lot of money.

My content has been so good that even without making first page for great competitive keywords I have had first page results for many keywords that have millions of competing pages and have had a lot of organic traffic, i’ve done this without looking for any backlinks for my site at all. My idea was to create great content and let those backlinks create naturally, so if I had any incoming links they were from people that had found my great content through some search on Google. My content has also been good enough to get me a lot of subscribers for this blog, a lot, but apparently google does not care or it does not analyze this either, apparently it is not in their algorithm, I would have to think that the algorithm is backlinks itself and that’s it. Because I have seen tons of first page results that do not provide good enough content and they still manage to be on the first page of the search results, why? Backlinks! High PR backlinks or thousands of low PR backlinks, that’s it, that all there is to it.

Now this is why this article has this title, Content is King if you have enough backlinks to fight with your competition, if your competition beats you with a lot of backlinks or enough high PR backlinks then you don’t have a chance, if you have similar amount of backlinks, and the quality of your backlinks is similar, then content will become a determinating factor, but only then will content matter, in fact you could probably write real crappy articles for less competitive niches than the “make money online” niche, throw some high PR backlinks to those articles if you can get them, and that article would immediatly make page one in Google, and you would start making money immediatly.

Remember there are super high traffic, high paying niches that people don’t compete for enough, most people want to make money online, by focusing in the “make money online” niche, it is a good niche, but there are niches that make way more money, although this niche is like some kind of a passion for most, at least for me because I truly love making money online and learning new ways to make money is what thrills me the most.

So just to make things worth the while and stop wasting my time, i’ve decided to start developing my backlink strategy, I have now officially started creating backlinks for my blog and hopefully I will make it to Google’s first page for the keyword “make money online” very fast. It would be fair if it happened because If Content is King then it should happen, I already have that type of content in here, and i’m always making new and better content, unique content that is. Now its all about the backlinks that will be pointing to my site, lets hope I get enough of them so I can make page one and provide enough people with the kind of information that will actually help them make money, because to be perfectly honest in the first page of Google for the search of this term, there is probably only one blog or site that actually gives you legit information as the one provided by this blog, and that is makemoneyforbeginners.blogspot.com which is written by Grizzly, the rest are just a bunch of sites with not enough information and enough backlinks, and that is why they are up there.

So next time you read that content is king, and you think you will make money and succeed online based on content, think again, content will be great for your on-page SEO which is only a small fraction of the SEO puzzle, it is your off-page SEO what will get you highly ranked, so, is Content King? I doubt it!

Backlinks are one of the most important factors when it comes to successful SEO. What are Backlinks?

Sites that give out nofollow links are not good for our SEO because Google will not give this links any value, although other search engines do not care about dofollow or nofollow, this is primarly a Google thing, but as you know it is something very important because Google handles almost all of the search engine traffic. So for some good SEO we need dofollow links, in future articles I will teach you how to identify nofollow and dofollow sites by using tools that are easy to use and free.

The Importance of Getting Backlinks?

As I told you in the last paragraph, the more backlinks you have the more traffic you will get from the search engines because you will rank higher for many related keywords to your main keyword, if your topic/niche/market is very competed and has a lot of traffic, your related keywords will bring three times more traffic if you get to rank for them as well, this means that you will make more money.

Another important factor about backlinks is that they will increase the PR of your website or blog. The PR of a site is  a grade given by Google to determine the importance of a site, the higher your PR the easier you will get to rank for the keywords that you choose. If you choose to compete against sites that have high PR you are probably doomed, unless you improve the Page Rank of your site. If you improve the PR of your site a lot then you will be able to highly rank for very competed keywords. How do you improve the page rank of your site? Backlinks!!

What Kind of Backlinks Does Your Site Need?

The best kind of backlinks for your site are those coming from websites, posts or articles which are in the same niche/topic/market as yours. The higher the page rank (PR) from the sites giving you backlinks the better optimized your site will be for the search engines, and you will improve as well they page rank of your website or blog.

The best backlinks are the ones from sites, posts, articles, etc. that are in the same niche as you are, but any backlink counts, and they are all welcomed.

Where to Get Backlinks For Free?

There are many ways to get backlinks for free for your site. I will list them to make it easier for the people reading this blog.

Ways to Get Free Backlinks :

- Comment on blogs that have the same niche/topic as you and that provide dofollow backlinks, when you visit one of these blogs contribute with something useful by leaving a smart comment, and leave a hypertext link pointing to your site with the keyword you want to rank for.

- Post on forums :  same formula as posting comments for blogs, except that most of the times you will have to leave the backlink in your signature box which is edited in your profile page for the forum that you choose to join. At the end of this article I will provide you a link which has a list of 144 dofollow high PR forums.

- Write articles for article directories like eazinarticles.com, goarticles.com, etc. These sites let you create backlinks if you write articles for them, some  will allow you to create backlinks within theh content, other article directories will only allow you to leave links pointing to your site in the signature box, it doesn’t matter they work as well as content links too, and they are do follow, if you choose a dofollow article directory, because some are nofollow.

- Submit articles from you blog or website to blog carnivals at blogcarnivals.com, submit your article to as many blog carnivals related to your topic as you can, and if they get featured on the carnival you will receive a backlinks for free.

- Submit your site to social bookmarking sites that have high page rank and that provide do follow backlinks, submit great articles from your blog or website to these websites as well. Some examples are Digg, Propeller, Reddit, etc.

- Submit your site to web directories for more backlinks, one way backlinks. A good example is the Dmoz.org open directory listing, but it is the hardest one to get.

- Exchange links with people that have blogs or websites related to your topic or niche, you can exchange links that are within the content, you can create blogrolls, you can trade articles for backlinks, etc. This type of links are also very important, but they can’t be excessive because you will get penalyzed by Google and probably by other search engines.

- Create backlinks by creating free blogger blogs, free squidoo lenses, free hubs at hubpages, articles at Google Knol, and just create as many mini sites as you can from sources that allow you to create free web pages, websites or blogs.

Because they will get you to the first page of your chosen keywords, they will get you there and you will get a lot of traffic, and search engine traffic makes money, and it is the best most important traffic that you should try to get, also known as organic traffic, this traffic is the kind of traffic that makes money. People coming to your site directly from search engines are more likely to click on ads, complete CPA offers, or buy products and services, be it affiliate products or your own products or services, so this is the traffic that you want to focus on if you really want to make money online.
