What is Affiliate Marketing?

In the last few years you have probably heard a lot about affiliate marketing and the power it has when it comes to get money online, you have probably heard also a lot about affiliate programs and probably you have seen many posts on great affiliate programs that make money.

What is affiliate marketing?

Very simple, affiliate marketing is what we could call a new business model where producers allow regular people like you and me to create our own business by promoting their products or services, every time you generate a lead or a sale through your affiliate link you will get paid.

How does it work?

Affiliate products or services are you usually displayed through a webmasters web site in the form of banners, textual links or textual ad blocks, these links and banners have encrypted the code or number of the affiliate, when they click on the banner or link they are taken to the sales page of the product or service i.e. the real website of the producer. Because of the code encrypted in your banners or links the company will be able to keep track of the activity in your account, so even if a sale is not made instantly if the potential customer comes back they will give you your comission because the i.p. is registered, they would have to buy it from another computer to stop your from earning money.

Affiliate marketing is a great way to starting an online business without any investment at all, off course the best approach to it would be by making a little investment at least for a domain name and a hosting plan in order to have your own web site to promote your affiliate products or services, although it is not required because you could use blogger blogs to do it, hubpages or squidoo lenses, also article marketing, I strongly recommend getting up your own domains with your hosting using wordpress because of the power it has to make great affiliate sites with strong search engine power.
